Restoration Underway of Iconic Clementine Hunter Murals at Melrose Plantation

Dating back to 1955, Clementine Hunter's murals at the African House on Melrose Plantation are some of the most treasured works in Hunter's oeuvre. Due to environmental factors, these iconic murals were showing signs of decay in recent years. With a generous gift from Miss Theodosia Nolan, Melrose Plantation hired the renowned conservators at Whitten & Proctor in Houston, Texas to restore the murals and protect them for future generations.
