The LSU Museum of Art's exhibition Mexico in New Orleans: A Tale of Two Americas features artists from both Mexico and Louisiana, including several artists featured in Gilley's Gallery. Artists Caroline Durieux, Colette Pope Heldner and Charles Oglesby Longabaugh, among others, traveled to Mexico in an effort to immerse themselves in the culture and learn from some of the country's most prominent talents, including Diego Rivera. Muralist David Siqueiros, was a native of Mexico but actively participated in the cultural exchange, collaborating with Durieux on occasion.
The exhibition follows the artwork and culture from the 1920s to 1950s and the influences still present in today's society. Mexico in New Orleans is currently open and runs through August 30, 2015.
We've taken this opportunity to showcase our collection of these artists' works. You will find each piece for sale at Gilley's Gallery listed below.
